At What Cost To Your Soul?

Episode 1: At What Cost to Your Soul?

What happens when nothing is wrong β€” and something deeper is still asking you to leave?

Sitting beside the ocean one evening, I found myself between two very different truths.

One said: Stay.

You are loved. You are safe. You have stability and comfort. There is nothing here you need to escape.

And all of it was true.

But underneath those very reasonable arguments was another question:

At what cost to your soul?

In this episode, I explore what happens when safety and expansion appear to be pulling us in opposite directions β€” and why perhaps we were never meant to defeat one in favour of the other.

We often talk about growth as though comfort is the enemy. Push harder. Take the leap. Leave the comfort zone.

But nature tells a more complicated story.

A seed needs warmth, moisture, nutrients and protection before it can grow. Roots need stability before branches can reach.

And eventually, the seed must break open.

Perhaps growth doesn't live on either shore.

Perhaps it emerges through the relationship between comfort and expansion, fear and possibility, the known and unknown.

In this episode

  • Walking away when there is no villain and nothing is "wrong"
  • The hidden cost of remaining somewhere we've outgrown
  • Why the parts of us seeking safety don't need to be defeated
  • What nature reveals about comfort, stability and expansion
  • Moving beyond the black-and-white demand to choose
  • How curiosity creates a third space between opposing truths
  • Why clarity may be something we make room for rather than something we force
  • Becoming more comfortable in the grey

The Nurturing Nomad enters the experience and listens for what is alive.

The Regulated CEO observes the architecture underneath it and notices something else: a nervous system with greater safety has access to more information.

Together, they reveal a different possibility:

Expansion isn't the enemy.

Comfort isn't the enemy.

Growth happens in the relationship between comfort and expansion.

So I'll leave you with the question I explore in this episode:

Where in your life are you standing on one shore, convinced you have to choose?

And what might become possible if, before deciding, you simply stood on the bridge for a little while?

Not avoiding.

Not delaying.

Just listening.

If this conversation stirred something in you, bring your chair to the fire.

I'm glad you're here.
